90th birthday parties don’t just happen every day. That’s why when Audrey threw herself a party, it was no ordinary event—it was an auction for charity.

Last February in Peoria, Arizona, with four generations in attendance, Audrey raised more than $3,000 for Outreach International. Rather than traditional gifts, she requested gifts from the Sustainable Gifts Catalog, like goats, water buffalo and chickens.

“Knowing the money went to a worthy cause gives a person a good feeling,” said the woman of the hour. She said she couldn’t have asked for a better present.

She was so pleased with the outcome that she’s already begun planning next year’s party. She is hoping to bring in even more money for charity.

“Our mom’s attitude about helping those less fortunate has given us all a wonderful perspective on life and on giving,” said Chris, Audrey’s son. “We followed up with wonderful thank you cards provided by Outreach. It was a great idea that mom came up with.”
