Elene is no stranger to Outreach. For the past seven years, she has been at the heart of our mission, serving most recently as Senior Director of Research & Advocacy. In this role, she has overseen our work in Cambodia, the Philippines, India, and Nepal—guiding programming that helps communities identify challenges, design their own solutions, and create progress that lasts for generations.
Elene’s Professional History
Her journey has taken her from youth programming in South Africa to international community work in the American Midwest, and her PhD in anthropology reflects her lifelong dedication to understanding and empowering people. Elene embodies the values that have defined Outreach International for nearly 50 years: compassion, resilience, and the belief that every person has the power to build a brighter future.

Of her new role, Elene said “After seven years of working in such an extraordinary organization I’m so excited to now lead Outreach International on its path of growth and innovation. The methodology of community-led development is such an effective approach to lifting people out of poverty, and together we will build on the already strong foundation this organization has established. It’s truly a privilege to lead such an expert and dedicated team, as we all look forward to making an even greater impact than we ever have before.”
