Tattoo | Nonprofit Tattoo | Outreach InternationalHave you ever met someone whom you instantly adore?

Someone who puts you at ease and makes you feel safe; bursting with an enthusiasm and warmth that you note and file away as an example to follow in your own life, because when you part ways, you feel so great that you not only want to preserve that feeling within yourself, but be the sort of person who has this effect on others? Has this ever happened to you?

If not, meet Stan and Gina Zeamer. If so, you mus’tve already met them, and are probably smiling right now.

When we first saw their email alerting us to this, we nearly fell out of our chairs. Before we shared the news with the remainder of the staff, we insisted they seat themselves on the floor to minimize risk of injury from astonishment-related collapse.

These two Outreach supporters recently took the concept of branding to its logical (but thankfully, not literal) endpoint by getting matching OI Guy tattoos on their respective ankles. Stan and Gina have literally been around the world with Outreach, seeing firsthand the difference we embody in the nonprofit field, and the difference we make in our community partners’ lives. “While visiting Africa and the Philippines, we were touched, motivated and inspired to believe in the methodology of human development leadership, and were amazed by the dedication and commitment of the field staff,” says Gina, totally nailing our preferred phrasing.

The couple had always entertained the idea of getting a tattoo, but like many, got busy and just didn’t take the time, Gina tells us. Timing is everything.

When their granddaughter and her roommate came for a weekend visit, the Zeamers tagged along, joining her for her pre-scheduled visit to a local tattoo parlor. A few disinfecting cotton swabs, hand-squeezes, and mild winces later, Stan and Gina had their own personal reminders of the permanence achieved through Outreach’s approach to resolving poverty.

And that’s not us forcing a metaphor, either: “The tattoo will be our constant reminder of Outreach’s permanent solution to world poverty,” says Gina. “And,” she adds, “we think the Outreach little person logo is cool.”

When it comes to tattoo options, it’s best to go with something personal and timeless. Luckily, empathy is always in style.
