With gratitude and affection, we remember our long-time friend and donor, Karolyn Kyser. Karolyn lived her life not only thinking of others, but acting to help in so many ways.

Karolyn was a leading member of her Community of Christ congregation in Green Cove Springs, Florida, where she served as financial officer for over 40 years.

But her life of service spanned far beyond her church and her charitable activities. Karolyn spent her career enlisted in the U.S. Navy. After 20 years of service, she retired as a decorated Chief Petty Officer. Her final posting was at Cecil Field in Jacksonville. She was the first enlisted woman to be assigned to that post.

To those who knew her, Kay was a first-responder friend. When someone was in need, near or far, she never hesitated to act. These are just a few of the reasons that her kind spirit will be felt by so many people for years to come. As a part of her wishes, she left a generous estate gift to Outreach International. This act of generosity is the ultimate proof of her selfless nature.

Finding Joy in Giving

Kay was one of those rare people who knew that the best way to find joy and attract kindness is to put joy and kindness into the world. Even as her vision weakened, and she often needed extra light to help her see, she remained joyful. And if you’re wondering if this really is true, you need look no further than the photo she herself chose to have displayed at her memorial service.
