We are looking for a design professional with an artistic background and strong creative instincts to join the marketing team to create compelling and thoughtful content to share the mission of Outreach across different platforms, targeting a variety of audiences.

Position Summary

As the designer at Outreach International, you’ll develop interesting, compelling, and inspiring content for our website, fundraising campaigns, social media, email communications, and much more. We are looking for someone who can creatively communicate what we do and capture the attention of both new and existing donors. As a member of the marketing team, you will work in close collaboration with our Content Manager for copy to utilize in your designs. It is your responsibility to make sure our communications are both on-brand and effective. You are a member of the marketing team, but you are the sole design director for our visual content.

Responsibilities and Duties

    • Conceptualize and produce design solutions to meet strategic goals while consistently maintaining brand identity throughout all materials. This includes creating compelling designs for both print and digital (email, social media, website and Google ads)
    • Ability to manage two brands: 1) Outreach International (your primary responsibility) and 2) Outreach Event Space (The Outreach Event Space is an event venue that is on the first floor of our office in KC). The Outreach Marketing Team manages communications and content for both brands simultaneously.
    • Oversee and continue to create a strong brand for the organization in a variety of media
    • Work closely with marketing team to conceptualize, design, and implement multiple campaign strategies throughout the year
    • Communicate and conceptualize information related to the design and architecture of projects at all stages of production. Developing supporting documents such as wireframes, style guides, or storyboarding as needed
    • Juggle multiple projects and aspects of projects simultaneously to assist in department workflow
    • Generate concepts for infographics, magazine layouts and promotional materials that function on paper, screen and large-format
    • Work with Senior Director of Marketing, CEO, printers and other vendors to ensure a desired outcome, and apply an accurate understanding of quality and scale of materials produced
    • Manage print vendor relationships for all print projects
    • Work closely with the Content Manager to create high quality marketing content. A healthy push and pull between copy and design is essential to achieving the collaborative environment we are looking for on our team
    • Keep abreast of trends, technologies, software, and concepts to maintain credibility within our industry and with the general public


    • BA or equivalent experience required
    • A minimum of 1 year experience in graphic design within a marketing and communications environment
    • Must be accustomed to meeting short deadlines, regular critiques, and changing proofs before final approval
    • Must be proficient in Adobe Design Suite (InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and Acrobat)
    • Must have experience using Microsoft Office and Google Suite products
    • Must have experience with 4-color printing process, color management basics and working with print vendors
    • Must have knowledge of digital asset management, email art and mastery of web design
    • Must have an active interest in, and knowledge of, emerging fundraising/communication technologies
    • Experience in creative collaboration within a professional environment required

Additional preferred (but not essential) qualities: 

    • A basic understanding of HTML and other relevant coding languages
    • Knowledge and experience with social media content creation and management
    • Knowledge and experience with event signage and creation of visual displays
