There are 4,764 students enrolled in Outreach-affiliated schools in Haiti for the 2016-2017 school year.

Things might have felt a little cramped for some of the 4,764 students in Outreach-affiliated schools in Haiti for the 2016-2017 school year. With enrollment numbers growing every year and single-digit dropout rates, existing structures housing classrooms and administration have served countless students and teachers over the years. In order to provide maximum benefit for the communities in which they are located, expansion and updates to schools there were overdue. In the Outreach tradition, we teamed up with local community members to find a sturdy solution.

After some initial fits and starts on construction in late 2016, the new school in Petionville, Haiti is nearing completion in time for the start of the 2017-2018 school year. By the time fall settles in, 300 students there will be making the most out of the new school’s six classrooms, community/ multi-purpose room, kitchen, restrooms, and water catchment and storage system.

There are only weeks to go before we can all savor the conclusion to another successful collaboration between local leaders and Outreach-affiliated community members. Phase 2: Building young minds. Phase 3: Building a world without poverty.

We’re right on schedule!
